Outer Banks Landscapes and Lighthouses

The North Carolina's Outer Banks is a magical place landscaped through the ages by wind, water, and drifting sand. From the exquisitely sculpted dunes of Ocracoke, to the prolific migratory waterfowl at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, to the unique landforms at Cape Hatteras, photography subjects abound. You are never far from water and sunrises and sunsets are some of the finest you will see anywhere.

What better place can you think of to learn how to hone your photography skills than in this wonderful coastal paradise?

The tuition for this workshop is $525 per person. Meals and lodging are not included in the price, but we have secured a block of rooms at the Comfort Inn in Buxton, N.C. This is five minutes from the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse!

We will focus on the extraordinary coastal landscape and the lighthouses in the area, including the Cape Hatteras, Ocracoke, and Bodie Island lighthouses. There will be no hiking or strenuous walking and the workshop is designed for the beginning and advanced/intermediate-level photographer.

Rough Itinerary*

Friday, November 13 Meet in hotel lobby at 4:00PM for introductions and weekend overview. Sunset shoot until dark. Dinner.

Saturday, November 14 Sunrise to sunset in field at optimal locations for light and weather. There will be time for meals and a mid-day break. Image critique and digital darkroom instruction on Saturday night.

Sunday, November 15 Sunrise until sunset in field. Participants will be able to leave at any time, depending on individual travel arrangments. Otherwise, I will be staying until sunset.

* This is an estimate since weather and the light will ultimately determine the details of our schedule. It's my job to teach you to be a better photographer and get you to the best places at the very best times. Having flexibilty is the only way I can do that. You just have to trust me that I will give you the best opportunitiess at getting the very best images, based on the conditions.
