Looking to take your creative expression to the next level? Creative Vision Photo Workshops are designed to challenge you to reach new heights with your nature photography. Join Creative Vision instructors Richard Bernabe, Ian Plant and Joseph Rossbach on an intensive, multi-day field and classroom instructional workshop that will help you create photographs you've always dreamed of making.

The Destination
Patagonia, a land of jagged granite peaks, towering blue glaciers, and wind-swept plains, is one of the most breathtaking places on the planet. The beating heart of Patagonia, Los Glaciares National Park—the famous Fitz Roy area—is our primary destination for this photo adventure of a lifetime. In addition to Los Glaciares, we will visit the Viedma and Perito Moreno glaciers, and stunning Torres del Paines National Park of Chile. Called a “Living Eden,” the mountains of Patagonia contain some of the world’s most inspiring places, and all serious nature photographers should have this trip at the top of their “bucket list.” Join the entire Creative Vision Team—Ian Plant, Joseph Rossbach, and Richard Bernabe—to create magical images on the far side of the world!
The scenery in this area is otherworldly, with stunning mountains piercing the heavens, a massive ice field spawning hundreds of glaciers, and deep mountain lakes filled with cold clean water as blue as the sky. Few places on Earth are its equal. Our trip is scheduled for the tail end of summer, maximizing our chances of getting good weather and great light. For this very special photography workshop, Richard, Ian, and Joseph will lead you on an intensive, multi-day instructional workshop that will help you create photographs you've always dreamed of making.
Fitness Level
Patagonia is a rugged landscape with few “drive-by shooting” opportunities. Accordingly, this workshop requires backcountry hiking, sometimes over rugged terrain, to reach the area’s most scenic and photogenic locations. This is a very active photo workshop that should be attempted only by those in good shape and experience with hiking. In addition, to reach some of the most rewarding photo locations, we will spend at least two nights in the backcountry, so a willingness to camp is a must.
Persons who are out of shape or who do not have hiking experience will likely find this workshop to be extremely difficult. Experienced hikers will not find the trails to be unduly strenuous, and we will have porters available to carry gear for overnight treks, but most trails are several miles long and some have significant (but not unreasonable) vertical ascents. You don’t have to be a marathon runner to take this workshop, but good health and physical fitness will enhance your enjoyment and allow you to experience the very best that Patagonia has to offer. For example, our most strenuous hike will involve an overnight trekking trip to Camp Poincenot, in the heart of the Fitz Roy area (3 hours, 9.5 km one way, 345 meters vertical ascent), and from there a steep sunrise hike to Laguna de Los Tres, with stunning views of a glacial lake below Mount Fitz Roy (1 hour, 2.9 km one way, 425 meters vertical ascent).
Please do not register if you are not in reasonably good physical condition and ready for the physical demands of this workshop. Refunds will not be given for people who arrive at the workshop but who are not in good enough shape to hike the trails! A standard liability release form will be required before the workshop starts.
Curriculum
The Creative Vision Team will teach a variety of techniques—both in the field and in the classroom—that will allow you to advance both your technical skills and artistic vision. We focus on a number of professional field techniques to help you create dramatic and powerful nature images, including working with dramatic light at sunrise and sunset, the fundamentals of powerful compositions, abstract techniques for creating artistic photographs.
In addition, we'll explore a number of artistic philosophies that will help you find your own personal vision.
