Death Valley in Black and White

Death Valley is a Land of Extremes! And that is what makes the the places almost picture perfect for photography, particularly Black and White photography. Despite the ominous and haunting name given to the par, Death Vally is very much alive with surreal landscapes of textures and shapes found nowhere else. Death Valley will stoke your creative vision and inspire you to make some of the most compelling images of your life.

Join acclaimed photographer, Richard Bernabe for four days of exciting landscape photography in Death Valley National Park, California as he guides and coaches you from one dynamic landscape to another. The emphasis is on Creative Composition and Visualizing in Black and White. As colorful as Death Valley National Park can often be, the landforms and minimalist landscapes are perfect for creative black-and-white renditions. Richard will teach how to create the most exciting monochrome landscape photographs.

Not only will you learn to visualize in Black and White, but you’ll soon be processing your digital images like a great 20th Century Printmaster. And as it is with all of Richard Bernabe’s “Creative Composition” classes, you will learn the valuable skill of seeing abstractly both in the classroom and in the field.

Participants are responsible for their own transportation, lodging, and all meals during the workshop. Transportation will be arranged via carpool between the hotel and the various shooting locations. We have a block of rooms reserved with a special group rate at the Stovepipe Wells Village Hotel inside the National Park. After your registration is completed (see below) you will be sent a PDF booklet that includes the hotel information, hotel discount code, as well as a gear list and other helpful recommendations to prepare for your trip. You should then call the hotel directly and reference the Richard Bernabe workshop to secure your lodging.

Photographers of all skill levels are welcome with the only prerequisite being you have a basic knowledge of how to operate your camera.
