Sri Lanka Photography Tour and Workshop

Breath taking scenery, waterfalls, tea carpeted valleys, tropical sunrises and sunsets, and ancient Buddhist temples are some of what you can expect to see in the Jewel of Asia, the Sri Lanka Photography Workshop and Tour with Richard Bernabe. Formerly known as Ceylon, Sri Lanka is a country with a rich culture and brilliant natural attractions as well. This Sri Lanka Photography Tour and Workshop offers the adventurous photographer a little slice of heaven on Earth in a tropical paradise Marco Polo once called the “finest island in the world.”

Itinerary

DAY 1 – Upon arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by one of our representatives and driven to Negombo to check in at the hotel. Here you can relax and take a dip in the pool before meeting up with the group. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel (Jetwing Lagoon: 4 stars)

DAY 2 – Early morning visit to Lellama to see the fishermen unload their daily catch. After breakfast at the hotel, we will stop at the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage for the daily bathing and feeding session in the morning by 9.00am. Dinner and overnight stay in Sigiriya (Aliya Resort & Spa: 4 stars).

DAY 3 – After breakfast at the hotel enjoy a visit to the Dambulla rock cave temple, a World Heritage Site situated in the central part of the country. The temple is composed of five caves of varying size and magnificence. The caves, built at the base of a 150m high rock during the Anuradhapura (1st century BC to 993 AD) and Polonnaruwa times (1073 to 1250), are by far the most impressive of the many cave temples found in Sri Lanka. In the evening. we will enjoy a game drive at Minneriya or Kaudulla National Parks (both Parks known for large numbers of Sri Lankan elephants) in 4x4 jeeps. Dinner and overnight (Aliya Resort & Spa: 4 stars).

DAY 4 – After breakfast leave for Sigiriya Rock Fortress. There are many caves here, some with remains of paintings and beautiful frescos. Later, we will proceed to Kandy and visit Alu-Vihara Buddhist Temple and a Batik Factory on the way. Overnight stay in Kandy after dinner at the hotel (Hunnas Falls Hotel: 4 Stars).

DAY 5 – After breakfast, we visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic after photographing the garden in front, the Audience Hall, the Royal Palace (remains) from the road in front and the Sacred Tooth Relic. Afterward, we will leave for Nuwara Eliya via Ramboda. On the way, we will be passing tea plantations, factories, tea pluckers and beautiful waterfalls for photography. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya (Araliya Green Hills: 4 stars).

DAY 6 – We have an early morning start to catch the train to Ella, one of the most scenic journeys in all of Asia. Our train ride takes us through misty mountains, tea carpeted hills, and several cascading waterfalls. Later, we will visit Ella Gap, a breathtaking mountain view for sunset photography. Dinner and overnight stay at Bandarawela Hotel: (3 stars).

DAY 7 – After an early breakfast at the hotel, we check out and drive to Yala, one of the most amazing locations to photograph wild life in Sri Lanka. Enjoy an evening safari from 3.00pm to 6.00pm. Overnight stay at the hotel (Jetwing Yala: 4 stars).

DAY 8 – Enjoy an early morning safari from 6.00am to 9.00am to spot the wild elephants, spotted deer, barking deer, wild buffalo, crocodiles, sambar, jackals, and much more. In the evening, we travel to Koggala and visit the stilt fishermen at sunset. Dinner and overnight in Tangalle (Anantara Peace Haven: 5 stars).

DAY 9 – After a sunrise shoot over the Indian ocean and breakfast, we can relax and enjoy the surroundings, taking in the lifestyle of the villagers, capturing the sunset or just lying by the pool. Dinner and overnight at the hotel (Anantara Peace Haven: 5 stars).

DAY 10 –  After another ocean sunrise shoot, we continue our journey to Colombo where our first stop will be at the Gangarama Temple and Seema Malaka Temples. We will also visit the vibrant markets of Pettah and Galle Face Green to witness the sunset. Dinner and overnight in Colombo (Galle Face Hotel: 4 stars).

DAY 11 – Breakfast at the hotel. Image reviews, airport departures.

Cancellation Policy

Final payment is due 90 days before the tour starts. To cancel after final payment has been made, 25% refund (minus initial deposit) between 90 and 30 days. No refund within 30 days. If we can find another customer to take your place, we will give you a 100% refund (minus your initial deposit).
